[GCF] 이집트 북부 해안과 나일강 삼각주 지역의 기후 변화 적응력 증진
Defending the vulnerable Nile Delta against coastal flooding damage to improve the resilience of rural communities.
The Nile Delta is among the top three most vulnerable regions in the world, according to the IPCC. The Delta faces the threat of flooding of low-lying coastlines from sea level rise and increased intensity and frequency of storm events. A one meter rise in sea level is expected to submerge 20% of the land area of the delta by the end of the 21st century. Salinization of land and water resources is expected to have significant impacts on agriculture, fishing and availability of freshwater resources.
Providing coastal defence soft structures and integrated coastal management to adapt to coastal flooding from sea level rise and increased frequency of storms. This will reduce the vulnerability of coastal infrastructure, protecting surrounding villages, agricultural land, and the international coastal road. The project will also lead to the development of an integrated coastal zone management plan for the entire North coast of Egypt.
The project has an estimated lifespan of 7 years.
농촌 지역의 회복력 제고를 위해 홍수 취약 지역인 나일강 삼각주에서 연안침수의 위험에 대비하고자 한다.
기후변화에 관한 정부간 협의체(The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; IPCC)에 따르면, 나일강 삼각주는 전세계에서 홍수에 가장 취약한 3개국 중 한 곳이다. 이 삼각주는 해수면 상승과 폭풍의 강도 및 빈도 증가로 인한 저지대 해안 지역의 침수 위험이 있다. 해수면이 1미터 상승한다는 것은 이곳의 육지 20%가 21세기 말까지 물에 잠긴다는 것을 뜻한다. 육지 및 수자원의 염류화가 농업, 어업, 담수 자원의 유용성에 대한 영향이 상당히 클 것으로 예상된다.
본 프로젝트는 해수면 상승과 돌풍 빈도 증가로 인한 연안 침수에 대비하기 위해 해안 지역의 유연한 방어 구조를 세우고, 통합 해안 관리를 하기 위한 것이다. 이는 연안 인프라가 홍수에 덜 취약하게 만들어, 주변 마을, 농업용지, 국제적인 해안도로를 보호할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 본 프로젝트는 이집트 북부 지역 전체에 대한 해안 지대 통합 관리 계획 개발로 이어질 것이다.
프로젝트 기간은 7년으로 예정되어 있다.
