Title [2019.12.03 ~ 12.13, Madrid] UN Climate Change Conference - December 2019

NEW! The Bureau has agreed on the new venue for the session. The session dates remain the same. 

The Madrid Climate Change Conference will take place at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid in Madrid, Spain from 2 to 13 December.

  • COP 25/CMP 15/ CMA 2 will take place from 2-13 December 2019.
  • SBSTA 51/ SBI 51 will take place 2-9 December 2019.

The President-Designate for the conference is Ms. Carolina Schmidt Zaldivar, Minister of Environment of Chile.

The COP 25 High-Level Climate Action Champion is Mr. Gonzalo Muñoz, business entrepreneur and social change-maker.

Provisional agendas of the governing and subsidiary bodies

The provisional agendas of the governing and subsidiary bodies were prepared according to Rule 10 of the draft rules of procedure being applied. In this regard, the provisional agendas reflect mandates from previous sessions, including the outcomes of COP 24, CMP 14 and CMA 1.3 as well as SBSTA 50 and SBI 50.

In the case of the CMA and with the adoption of most elements of the work programme under the Paris Agreement, a new provisional agenda had to be prepared. As indicated in the said Rule 10 of the draft rules of procedure, the provisional agenda prepared includes all issues mandated for consideration at CMA 2. Consequently, issues not requiring consideration by CMA 2 have not been included.

In the application of Rule 10, the provisional agendas of COP 25 and CMA 2 also include items requested by Parties.

In order to improve the organization of work of the governing and subsidiary bodies, items of the provisional agendas have been structured following clusters of related issues - transparency, mitigation, adaptation, means of implementation and cross-cutting issues.
