Title Structured Dialogue with Least Developed Countries: 19-22 November 2018
The Green Climate Fund (GCF), in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia and the Least Developed Countries' constituency under the UNFCCC, is organizing the GCF Structured Dialogue with Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 19 to 22 November 2018. The forty-seven countries on the list of LDCs are some of the most vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. They are the least able to recover from climate stresses and their economic growth is highly dependent on climate-sensitive sectors. The objective of the GCF Structured Dialogue with Least Developed Countries is to accelerate and strengthen GCF engagement with the countries and entities in the LDCs. It will provide a dedicated platform for LDCs to share the views and experiences of their countries on paradigm shift toward low emission and climate resilient sustainable development. It also aims to increase LDCs’ understanding of GCF latest modalities, procedures and development. The Dialogue will further facilitate interactions and discussions on potential project pipelines at the national and regional levels. The Structured Dialogue will establish an LDC roadmap and action plan to articulate the LDC group priorities and opportunities in their engagement with GCF, in consultation with the accredited entities and the GCF Secretariat to ensure implementation of the roadmap and of high quality and impactful programmes or projects. The event will bring together GCF partners in the LDCs, including National Designated Authorities (NDAs) and Focal Points (FPs), UNFCCC National Focal Points, Accredited Entities (AEs), as well as other stakeholders such as national and regional governmental organisations, private sector organisations, CSOs, and other interested partners.
