Title [GCF] Energy Efficient Consumption Loan Programme

Financing heating and housing solutions with reduced emissions and improved environmental and health co-benefits.
Mongolia is particularly vulnerable to climate change, resulting in the degradation of pastoral land and biodiversity and the death of livestock. Many people have migrated to the capital city of Ulaanbaatar - which has the highest global level of air pollution, due partly to households burning coal and wood for cooking and heating.
This programme will provide loans to energy efficiency heating appliances and housing products, with heating appliances certified to achieve at least a 20 percent reduction in energy usage. The use of grant funding will include the disposal of old heating appliances and energy efficient housing, while also contributing to a shift in consumer behaviour.
The programme has an estimated lifespan of 10 years.
