UN Climate Change News, 12 June 2019 - W-Foundation, a global relief and conservation organization, is working with the UN’s Climate Neutral Now initiative to promote sustainability and climate action through a gamified mobile social network application that encourages the public to take action and share the results of greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
Climate Neutral Now invites companies, organizations, governments and citizens to work towards climate neutrality by reducing their climate footprint by measuring their greenhouse gas emissions, reducing them as much as possible and then compensating those which cannot be avoided.
The app launched in Korea, is now available in English for a more global reach. The users of the app can place a link on the HOOXI app to Climate Neutral Now initiative, thereby inviting other HOOXI app users to support the initiative. With the proceeds, W-Foundation purchases UN certified emission reduction units (CERs) to support emission reduction projects in developing countries.
Completion of the missions on the app generate “mission points”, which are used to competitively rank the users on a monthly basis. As an incentive to encourage enthusiastic participation and voluntary generation of useful greenhouse gas emissions reduction data, the top 20% are rewarded each month with WGP (W Green Pay), a blockchain currency.
A smaller subset of the missions is specifically designed to generate time series data that can over time contribute to a rigorous quantitative accounting of the public's contribution to greenhouse gas remissions reduction through the HOOXI app.

For each user signing up through the HOOXI app, W-Foundation makes a donation equivalent to 1 ton of carbon for each registrant who signs up through the advance registration site.

With 197 Parties, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has near universal membership and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement.
